According to Lexus, the previous 181 horsepower was increased to 196 horsepower across both systems. The new lithium-ion battery pack is placed behind the back seat to maximize cargo capacity.
The sole hybrid version of the UX is equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that prioritizes efficiency through port and direct fuel injection, a motor on the front transaxle, and a continuously variable transmission. This setup produces a total of 181 horsepower. To add another motor to the back axle, you may opt for the $1,400 all-wheel-drive system.
The front-wheel-drive UX has a combined efficiency rating of 42 mpg according to the EPA, while the all-wheel-drive version yields 39 mpg. These impressive fuel economy numbers are made possible by weight-saving technologies including upgraded cooling systems, aluminum panels, and greater battery performance.
