The noise has always been the true allure of an F-branded Lexus in my opinion, and the RC F (largely) delivers in that regard. The company’s amazing LC 500, the forthcoming IS 500 F Sport Performance, and the sadly departed GS F and IS F sedans all use the same 5.0L engine. The engine makes a blood-curdling, sonorously mechanical shriek when the throttle is depressed. Although it sounds ruthlessly melodious in the flagship LC, the RC F’s titanium exhaust is different, making it more brutish-sounding and ultimately less evocative in this application. The term “track” and a large, naturally aspirated V8 engine are never going to be synonymous with fuel economy. After testing for around 470 km, the vehicle’s trip computer registered 13.7 L/100 km.
